Two people died in workplace accidents in Mayo over the past year, according to the annual report from the Health & Safety Authority.

There were 3 work-related deaths in Sligo and one in Galway during 2021, while nationally, 38 people died in workplace incidents - down from 54 the previous year which was a 30% reduction.

Farming remains one of the most dangerous sectors, accounting for 9 fatalities last year, with 10 deaths in the construction sector.

Roscommon and Leitrim are among 8 counties where no workplace fatalities were reported in 2021.
