Thousands of frontline healthcare workers are off work due to Covid-related concerns, leaving the country's Hospitals under severe pressure, as the number of those hospitalised for Covid-19 continues to rise.

Yesterday, the number of people being treated in hospital for Covid-19 rose to 758- up 41 on the previous day.

Over the weekend, Mayo University Hospital, the Mater Hospital in Dublin and the Rotunda Maternity Hospital asked people to only attend their Emergency Departments if it's absolutely necessary.

Martin Daly of the IMO said however that anyone requiring emergency treatment will be seen.
