Over 200 new jobs have been approved for local authority housing delivery teams nationwide.
The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien gave the go ahead for the recruitment, which will assist Councils in delivering their social housing targets.
This forms part of the Government’s Housing for All plan, that commits to strengthening the capacity of Local Authorities to initiate, design, plan, develop and manage housing projects.
It acknowledges the requirement of additional staff and these new posts include engineers, quantity surveyors, architects and administration roles.
In Mayo there are eleven positions, eight technical and three admin, in Galway City there are six positions up for grabs in total, four technical and two administrative, in Galway County there are 13 roles, 10 technical and three admin, in Leitrim there are 4 jobs three technical and one admin, , in Roscommon there are six roles, four technical and two admin, in Sligo there are seven jobs, six technical and one administrative.
Minister O’Brien says with the approval of these new posts, Government is ensuring all local authorities have the capacity to deliver the scale of social housing delivery required.
