A section of Pearse Street in Ballina is closed to traffic, following a watermain burst overnight.

Water outages are being experienced on Pearse St, Beleek Road and Beleek Lodge, Castlecourt, Arbuckle Row, Bachelors Walk and surrounding areas of Beleek until about 4 o'clock this afternoon.

Mayo Fianna Fail TD Dara Calleary says that, due to the location of the watermain burst, a section of Pearse St is closed to traffic and a water tanker is in place to provide water to affected customers.

Crews are working to repair the burst as quickly as possible.
