A new link road is needed to help relieve traffic congestion in Ballinrobe.
That' s according to local Councillor Michael Burke who raised the issue at yesterday's meeting of the Claremorris/Swinford Municipal District.
He claims traffic levels in Ballinrobe have returned to pre-pandemic levels, and are particularly serious at rush hour in the mornings and evenings.
Councillor Burke is concerned about the delays in emergency vehicles such as ambulances getting through the town.
While a bypass of Ballinrobe was proposed a number of years ago, that's now reverted to phase zero, and could take years to be delivered.
In the meantime, Councillor Burke told Midwest News that he's calling for funding for a new link road from the Claremorris road onto the Kilmaine road, to help ease traffic congestion in the town centre.....
