Three outdoor projects in Co. Sligo have received funding today.
€118,800 has been allocated to Muckelty Hill just outside Tubbercurry, for a Trail Project Development of a 1.5km trail, providing safe access to summit views and heritage sites and trailhead car parking facilities.
At Hazelwood an application to upgrade facilities including the provision of new car parking and related trailhead facilities at the Forest Trail amenity area was awarded €123,750 in funding.
The Ballygawley Lakeshore Loop Trails received €143,550 for the provision of safer off-road trail sections linking with Union Wood amenity area, the Sligo Way and future Blueway and car parking facilities at Ballygawley Wood. An additional €50,000 is provided for the Ballygawley Blueway project to investigate further the proposal.
Minister of State Frank Feighin says a total of €436,100 has been allocated under this traunche of funding to county Sligo to assist in developing exciting projects, all breathing life and investment into local rural communities.
