The need for a permit to fish on the River Suck has been abolished.
It’s very welcome news, according to Roscommon County Councillor, Anthony Waldron.
The Ballintubber-based Councillor had been to the fore in a campaign to have the 45 euro permit abolished on the grounds that it was impacting on the local tourism potential.
He had recently got the backing of his fellow councillors on the local authority calling on Roscommon County Council management to liaise with Minister Eamon Ryan and Inland Fisheries Ireland, and review the current necessity for the permit.
