A Fianna Fail Councillor has called on Mayo County Council to urgently address the worsening traffic situation in Ballinrobe.
At the Claremorris/Swinford Municipal District meeting Cllr. Damien Ryan called for the local authority to make an application to Transport Infrastructure Ireland for funding to connect the R331 Claremorris Road to the N84 Kilmaine Road in Ballinrobe.
Cllr. Ryan believes if this traffic alleviation measure was introduced to form part of the overall bypass it would essentially solve school traffic and provide access to the M18 motorway without coming right through the town centre.
He has been giving more details to Midwest Radio’s Michael D. McAndrew.
