In farming news, advance payments under the 2021 Basic Payment Scheme have commenced.
The payments are worth €738 million to 114,600 farmers across the country.
Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue says 70% advance payments are commencing today, and will be visible in farmers' bank accounts in the coming days, while the Department will continue to process all remaining cases as a matter of urgency.
Payments under the 2021 Areas of Natural Constraints scheme which started last month are also continuing, as more cases are cleared for payment.
A helpline for farmers with queries on the BPS or ANC payments will operate up to 8.30 pm each evening this week at 057 - 867 4422, and queries can also be submitted online via www.agfood.ie
