A 60 unit housing estate on the Lodge road in Westport, has been built for some years now, and not a foot of footpath or public lighting has been installed by Westport Municipal District for the householders. That’s according to Westport based Fine Gael councillor Peter Flynn.
The matter was raised by councillors at this week’s West Mayo Municipal District meeting that was held in Louisburgh.
Cllr Flynn says at least 600,000 euro was secured by the Municipal District in development levies for this estate and he says that money should be used to provide essential infrastructure.
Councillors have demanded that the Head of Roads in the District attend the October meeting of the authority and explain why this is the case.
