The death has taken place of Paddy Prendergast, full-back on the last Mayo team to win the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship.
A native of Ballintubber, He was aged 95 and won the Sam Maguire with Mayo in 1950 and ’51.
The former Garda lived most of his adult in County Kerry having been transferred there in the 1960s.
Mayo GAA President and Ballintubber Club Man Sean Feeney has today paid tribute to the late Paddy Prendergast.
Sean Lyons who is a native of Castlebar living in Tralee was a close friend of Paddy Prendergast has described him as a gentleman.
