Works are set to get underway shortly in Claremorris following the funding allocation of €380,000, approved in July 2021 under the Smarter Travel Scheme.
Local Councillor Tom Connolly says the funding will be used for the continuation of works at Claremont in the town. The works will then extend from Claremont towards the Castlebar road, along the N.60.
He says it will complete widening of this road which has been urgently required for some time. When completed, it will benefit Mount St. Michael Secondary School where buses and cars are dropping off pupils.
The works will also benefit the residents of the two housing estates in that area, access to the D’Alton Home Nursing Home, the industrial park, the athletic track and other sporting facilities.
