There's a major jobs boost for Galway city this morning.

Medical device manufacturer Integer Holdings Corporation has announced it will further expand its presence in Galway with the construction of a new Medical Device Innovation & Manufacturing facility in the Parkmore East area.

Integer currently employs about 1,300 people in Ireland - with 350 of these located in Galway.

The company says the expansion of its facilities in Galway will add an estimated 100-200 new engineering, administration and manufacturing jobs over the next several years.

The company says the design and construction of the new facility will also employ several hundred contractors in the Galway region.

The new facility will be built on land purchased from IDA Ireland and involves a projected 30 million dollar investment over the next several years.

Construction is expected to start next year, with an estimated completion in late 2023.
