There was great excitement as young dancers flocked backed to the Bailey-Scariff Academy of Irish Dancing yesterday following the latest easing of Covid-19 restrictions.

The Bailey-Scariff Irish Dancing School operates across Mayo and Galway and is based out of Ballina and Galway City.

Dancers had been limited to individual in-person classes following the previous relaxing of restrictions, but yesterday was the first time they could return in numbers.

Indoor dance classes are resuming for pods of six for people with mixed immunity or 100 people if everyone in attendance is immunised.

These pods exclude group leaders or teachers, with multiple pods permissible, subject to protective measures and factors like the venue size and social distancing between pods.

Cheryl Scariff is a teacher at the Irish Dancing Academy and she told Midwest News about the excitement of the young people on their first day back.
