Incidents of anti-social behaviour in local authority houses across Co Mayo are getting worse, and the council's Anti-Social Behaviour Policy is not strong enough to deal with such incidents.

That's according to Castlebar-based Independent Councillor Michael Kilcoyne, who believes Councillors are being blocked by the council executive in making changes to the policy.

Councillor Kilcoyne raised the matter again at a recent meeting of Mayo County Council.

Speaking afterwards to  Midwest News,  Councillor Kilcoyne said changes are needed to ensure such anti-social incidents are dealt with properly by the Council and by Gardai, but he said council officials seem reluctant to allow such changes....
