The Old Irish Goat Visitor Centre was officially opened to the public by Former Minister Michael Ring last week.
Over €150,000 in LEADER funding was also announced for the Gifts of Hands craft shop within the centre.
The Craft Shop and visitors centre is located along the N59 on the east side of Mulranny and is open from 11 am to 5 pm daily.
Fourteen local contributors and artists have their fine craftwork and art for sale and there is a selection of fibre, textiles, wood, glass, pottery, prints and cards to choose from.
In the Interpretive Centre, there’s a short film on the story of the goats and how the Old Irish Goat Society proved the breed is unique and indigenous to Ireland.
Helen Walker is manager of the centre in Mulranny and is also a director of the Old Irish Goat Society.
She told Midwest News that the LEADER funding for the craft shop will help enhance the tourism offerings at the sanctuary.
