Today sees the launch of Irish Music Month - a new initiative to promote Irish artists and bands.
25 independent radio stations from across the country - including Midwest Radio - have signed up for the event, together with Hot Press.
The campaign to promote and support Irish music will run throughout the month of October, and will see a significant increase in radio play for Irish music across all 25 stations.
It also includes a national talent show, which will involve the direct payment of €100,000 to Irish artists.
The past year and a half has been very difficult for Irish musicians and the events industry, and this campaign will help the recovery of the sector - providing a boost for established musicians and performers, and helping to shine a light on up and coming local talent.
