Mayo County Council has granted planning permission for a new Aldi store in Ballyhaunis.
Aldi says up to 30 permanent jobs will be created, while about 50 people will be employed during the construction phase.
The new development on Main Street in the centre of Ballyhaunis will include over 100 car parking spaces and 10 bike parking spaces, as well as electric vehicle charging points.
Aldi's Regional Managing Director Colin Breslin told Midwest News that they're delighted to get the green light from Mayo County Council for the new Ballyhaunis store, and expect to open the store towards the end of next year.
This will be the fifth Aldi store in Co Mayo, with supermarkets already in Ballinrobe, Belmullet, Castlebar and Claremorris.
