Castlebar novelist Sally Rooney’s much-anticipated third novel, Beautiful World, Where Are You hits the shelves today.

Bookshops are anticipating huge interest as it is released this morning.

The novel centres on the relationship between two best friends – Alice, a successful author, and Eileen, an assistant at a literary magazine.

The novel charts their respective romances with Felix, a warehouse worker, and Simon, a policy adviser.

The Castle Bookshop in Castlebar will have signed copies of the book fresh off the printer.

Owner David Brennan told the Irish Independent there is a great sense of pride in the town that one of their own is now one of the “most influential authors on the planet”.

Rooney has already published two highly-acclaimed novels, Conversations with Friends and Normal People, with the latter selling more than three million copies.

The TV adaptation of the book, starring Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones, became the BBC’s most streamed programme of 2020.
