Funding has been announced today for provide new vehicles for community-based organisations in Roscommon, Sligo and Galway that provide free transport for cancer patients to attend medical appointments, and to assist people who are wheelchair-bound or have other mobility issues.

In Roscommon, the Brothers of Charity will receive over €63,000 to purchase a wheelchair-accessible bus.

In Sligo, €50,000 goes to the Sligo Order of Malta to purchase a vehicle, and there are two grants for Co Galway - Ability West in Moutbellew will receive €54,000 for a bus with adaptations, and almost €43,000 has been allocated for East Galway & Midlands Cancer Support to purchase a vehicle to bring cancer patients to medical appointments.

Minister Heather Humphreys has approved the funding under the Clár programme.
