The Aran Islands RNLI lifeboat crew went to the assistance of nine people on board a fishing boat which experienced engine problems yesterday off Inis Mór, the largest of the Aran Islands.

The All-Weather lifeboat, under Coxswain John O'Donnell and a full crew, launched shortly before 3pm at the request of the Irish Coast Guard and headed straight for the fishing boat in good weather conditions.

The volunteer crew checked that all 9 people on board were safe and sound before establishing a tow line, and towing the boat back to Kilronan Harbour on the island.

All aboard were brought safely back ashore.
