Every hotel and B&B in the Erris area is full to the brim for the next few days, as Carne Golf Club in Belmullet is hosting the Irish PGA Championship.
The international competition is a major boost to the local economy as golfers and visitors flock to Carne for the event that got underway yesterday with a Pro-Am and the competition got underway officially this morning at 8am and continues until Saturday.
The event had to be postponed last year due to Covid-19.
Defending champion Simon Thornton and many of Ireland's leading PGA professionals will battle for a slice of the €40,000 prize fund.
The event also marks the official opening of the Wild Atlantic Dunes course at Carne Golf Links.
