An €8m site expansion at Charles River Laboratories in Ballina was announced this afternoon.
The multi-million euro investment will see the creation of 90 new high-skilled jobs over the next three years at its Carentrila base in the town.
The companies partnership with AstraZeneca, which stretches back to 2012, will see them undertake batch testing of their COVID-19 Vaccine,
They will also help outsource regulated safety and develop support on treatments and vaccines; including the vaccines Vaxzevria for COVID-19 and Fluenz for seasonal infleunza.
The company, which started operations in Ballina in 1974 before being acquired by Charles River in 2002, is expanding its facility with a new 1,500m2 lab space.
