Ongoing financial supports are needed for the hospitality industry in Mayo, and across the country - such as the extension of the wage subsidy scheme and the retention of the 9% VAT rate.

That's according to Mayo Senator Lisa Chambers, who says that even if pubs and restaurants are allowed to reopen for indoor dining later this month, it will take some time to build back up their business - particularly if they're only allowed to serve fully-vaccinated people indoors.

The Fianna Fail Senator says she has major reservations excluding people who have not yet been vaccinated from indoor service.

The Cabinet will meet next Tuesday to consider a number of options on reopening indoor hospitality, and Senator Chambers told Midwest News that there are a number of issues around the so-called Covid passport for indoor dining that need to be clarified....
