There is a lot of excitement and pride in Foxford at the moment, as renowned wall artist “Friz” is putting the final touches to two huge murals / wall paintings that now dominate entry into the town, from the Castlebar side.
Located on the river Moy, the town of Foxford is known internationally for its fishing and a giant salmon on one of the murals reflects this theme, while the town also has a long history with goat fairs, and a goat is central to the second mural.
Friz, aka Marion Noone, has been commissioned to carry out the works for the Foxford Wall Art project – by a recently formed group of young Foxford enthusiasts.
She took a brief break from her work yesterday in the rain, coming down from her crane, to speak to Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley..
A group of female walkers stopped to admire the new murals and gave Teresa their reaction to the murals..
