1300 pharmacies nationwide are receiving Covid-19 vaccines from today, and will be administering the jab from later this week.
They'll start administering the vaccine to people aged over 50 able and will be giving the one-shot Johnson and Johnson dose.
Hundreds of community pharmacies will also be able to give the Pfizer vaccine, once vials are delivered in the next few weeks.
Anne Staunton of Stauntons Pharmacy Main Street Castlebar has been telling Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley about how they will operate the new system.
Stauntons have developed a large area of their premises for administering the vaccine and Ann is urging anyone over 50 who wants to be vaccinated to ring them and make an appointment.
