The Rural Ireland Organisation, formally known as Ireland’s Future claims the IFA CAP reform protest planned for Mayo tomorrow (Fri) is against equality and against 72,000 small farmers getting any increase in their payments.
Chairperson of The Rural Ireland Organisation, Lahardane based Gerry Loftus says his organisation held a rally in Newport on Monday last in support of the CAP reform. Addressing those gathered Mr Loftus argued that the west is becoming a carbon sink for the rest of the country and he said that’s unfair.
The organisation is writing to the EU Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski and the President of The EU Commission Ursula Von Der Leyen to outline its support for what’s on the table.
Gerry has been speaking to Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley about their stance..
