Twin sisters from Co Roscommon, who've been separated for over a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, met up yesterday to celebrate their 90th birthdays, by travelling from Dublin to Galway by train for a short holiday.
Kathleen Galligan and Margaret Gilna nee Hanley were born in Ballaghadereen on 30th May 1931, and they both got married in a double wedding ceremony on April 15th 1958.
Both have four sons and two daughters, and keep in touch every day through texts and FaceTime.
Kathleen Galligan lives in Raheny in Dublin with her husband Michael, while Margaret - a widow -lives in Stillorgan.
Now that they're both fully vaccinated, their families arranged for the twin sisters to travel to Galway for a 3-night break to celebrate the milestone 90th birthday.
