The Taoiseach says there's no need for Covid-19 restrictions in maternity hospitals.
It comes as protests were staged at four hospitals earlier today, calling for partners to be allowed access to appointments, scans and the early stages of labour.
Despite the HSE advising hospitals they can ease maternity restrictions, some remain in place as decisions on Covid restrictions are made by individual hospitals.
Taoiseach Michael Martin says it shouldn't be happening.
Mayo Fianna Fail Senator Lisa Chambers says it should not be up to individual hospitals to make a decision in relation to maternity restrictions.
She told Midwest News this evening that it's scandalous that people have to protest outside hospitals to have these restrictions lifted....
