The five day moving average of new Covid-19 cases has increased by 8% in the past week.

The figure was 437 last Tuesday but has increased to 470 this week.

2 further Covid-19 deaths were reported yesterday evening, and 383 new cases of the virus.

In this region, there are 16 new cases in Co Roscommon, 11 in Galway and less than 5 in Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim.

Roscommon has seen a significant increase - with less than 5 new cases reported most days last week, rising to 16 yesterday.

It's not known whether the walk-in test centre has led to the rise in numbers.

Co Roscommon has seen 64 new cases of the virus over the past 2 weeks, and the 14-day incidence rate has risen from 68 per 100,000 people last week to 99 per 100,000.

Nationally, there's been a 9 percent rise in the 14 day incidence rate over the past week, which is now at 134 cases per 100,000 people.

9 counties have higher rates, while all the Connacht counties have rates below the national average.
