Mayo people at home and abroad are celebrating their culture and heritage today, on the 7th annual Mayo Day.

Events are taking place virtually once again this year, due to the pandemic, with a jam-packed programme of activities lined up for people to enjoy across the globe.

A Facebook live concert will take place in partnership with Safe Home Ireland, based in Mulranny, while the Alan Murphy School of Dance will broadcast a performance from Ashford Castle.

TG4 will broadcast a special TV programme tonight, showcasing some of Mayo's music and culture.

"Mayo Day - Ár bPobal, Our People" will be broadcast at 9.30 pm on TG4 and the TG4 Player.

Catherine McConnell is the Director of Services at Mayo County Council and she’s been outlining to Midwest News the events people can view online and across their social media channels.
