A new Covid-19 test centre has opened temporarily in Tuam.

The walk-in centre is operating at the Irish Wheelchair Association centre at the Glebe, Dublin Road, Tuam and opened this morning at 11am.

People who do not have symptoms of the virus but wish to be tested can do so between now and Wednesday evening, without an appointment.

Those using the service must be over 16, and bring photo ID with them.

People who have symptoms of Covid-19 should not attend - they should contact their GP for referral for a test.

A similar walk-in Covid test centre will open from tomorrow at the Fire Station in Castlerea.

Testing will take place from 10am to 5.30pm for 7 days from tomorrow.

The temporary test centres are being set up to identify asymptomatic cases that could spread the virus.
