Gardaí are investigating an incident in which a lamb was slaughtered in Sligo on Wednesday night.
The farmer found the remains of the lamb, on the land yesterday morning, just off the Bundoran Road.
This act was carried out by someone who appears to have some expertise in butchering animals.
Midwest News understands that the incident is being treated as a theft.
Gardaí are appealing to the farming community to be aware of and to report any suspicious activity on their lands.
They are also appealing to anyone who has any information to this particular crime to make contact with your local Garda Station.
