Mayo will celebrate St Patrick's Day virtually this year on www.mayo.ie
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, no physical parades will take place throughout the county on 17th March, but Mayo County Council says the Virtual St Patrick's Day offers an opportunity for people at home and away to enjoy a trip down memory lane with a wide selection of images, videos and memorabilia from parades around the country in times gone by.
To start the day, Mass will be live-streamed from the Church of the Sacred Heart Belmullet at 10.30am.
Staff at the National Museum of Country Life at Turlough Park, Castlebar will give a lesson on how to make a traditional St Patrick's Day badge, while musical performances will include the world-famous Achill Pipe Band.
Messages and interviews from some of the Mayo diaspora will also feature, while the Mayors and officials from towns twinned with Mayo will also send greetings.
On St Patrick's evening at 7,30, the story of St Patrick will be aired on the Mayo.ie Facebook page from the Town Hall in Westport.
