A Mayo community is 'petrified' by excessive speeding on road crossings between the N26 and N58.
That's according to Foxford-based Councillor Neil Cruise, who has called for members of An Garda Siochana to patrol the network of local roads around the Cloongullane Bridge road works.
The Fine Gael Councillor had called for speed ramps to be installed along the road at meetings of Mayo County Council and the Ballina Municipal District, to no avail.
He will bring the matter before the council's roads strategic policy committee next week.
Cllr Cruise told Midwest News that even if motorists in the area are not breaking the 80km speed limit, Gardaí still have discretion to deal with dangerous driving.
