A company that intends to set up its manufacturing base on Achill Island later this year is to collaborate with a UCD research team on the development of highly efficient electric motors for the marine industry.
I-Form, the Science Fund Ireland Research Centre for Advanced Manufacturing, has agreed a collaboration with w1Da to accelerate the development and production of eco-friendly electric marine motors.
The development is worth €225,000 to w1DA, that intends working with Udaras na Gaeltachta setting up its manufacturing facility in Bunacurry, and will focus on 3D printing of high-strength, low-weight components that are key to the advancement of next generation electric motors.
