House prices in Mayo are set to rise by 6% this year.
That's according to a new survey carried out by Real Estate Alliance, which shows the price of an average three-bed semi in Mayo is expected to increase by 6% over the next 12 months.
Prices in the county rose by 3% between September and December to an average of €165,000, as the option to work from home incentivised buyers to move away from urban centres.
Prices in Castlebar rose 3.1% in the final quarter of 2020 to €165,000 while in Westport prices rose 2% to €245,000.
Nationally, average prices rose by 1.5% over the past 3 months.
Robert McGreal of REA McGreal Burke in Castlebar and Westport says the outllook for 2021 is greatly improved with the announcement of the release of Covid-19 vaccines.
He claims this will give confidence to potential buyers, and economic optimism for the year ahead.
