A pop-up Covid-19 test centre should be set up in Belmullet, an area with extremely high levels of the virus at present - that's according to Erris-based Fianna Fail Councillor Sean Carey.
Figures published late last week showed the Belmullet electoral area had the highest levels of Covid-19 in the country, and GPs are reporting huge demand from patients for Covid tests.
However, they must travel to either Castlebar or Sligo to get tested, and in some cases, people with symptoms who do not drive themselves have to get someone else to bring them to the test centre - potentially putting the driver at risk also.
Councillor Carey told Paula Donnellan that there's major concern in the Erris region about the high levels of the virus circulating at present
