All flights from Britain are banned for 48 hours from midnight and ferries will only be allowed carry cargo across the Irish sea.
Ireland has followed the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Italy and Austria to shut off transport links after the outbreak of a new strain of Covid-19 in the south of England.
The strain is thought to be as much as 70% more infectious -- and Britain's Health Secretary Matt Hancock says it's "out of control".
