The man who died in a house fire in Roscommon at the weekend has been named locally as John Nolan of Ballyleague, and formerly of Dysart.
The fire was discovered at his home in the village of Ballyleague shortly before midnight last Friday.
Gardaí and the emergency services attended the scene.
Mr Nolan, who was in his mid-60s, was pronounced dead a short time later.
As a mark of respect, a ceremony to mark the turning on of the Christmas Lights in Ballyleague planned for Saturday evening was postponed.
He will be laid to rest on Thursday morning.
