Mayo schools are set to receive €1.6m in grants to spend on ICT infrastructure.
161 Primary schools across the county will benefit from a share of €876,592 and 26 post primary schools will receive €712,027.
Minister for Education and Skills, Norma Foley TD confirmed that schools will receive funds in early December for key pieces of equipment like PCs, laptops, tablets and projectors.
The grant can also be spent on cloud based tools and software applications to support learning.
Its part of a €50 million investment in ICT infrastructure nationally under funding from the Government’s Project Ireland 2040, amounting to €160 million for schools.
Mayo Fianna Fail Deputy Dara Calleary told Midwest News that this investment will provide access to the necessary hardware and equipment for schools.
