The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has announced €10 million in once-off funding for palliative care and end-of-life care in 2020, to support the sector during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Minister said that, while hospices and other providers of palliative care are continuing to provide essential services, their fundraising activities have been curtailed during the pandemic.
In this region, €350,000 has been allocated for the North West Hospice in Sligo and €750,000 for the Galway Hospice.
Funding is also provided for the Irish Hospice Foundation, Jack & Jill Children's Foundation and the Irish Cancer Society.
