Castlebar ICA (Irish Country Women's Association) today, marked to the day, the first ever meeting of the Association that took place in the county town, seventy years ago.
The branch is still active and strong in membership, but due to Covid Restrictions they have been unable to hold any meetings since last March.
To mark today’s anniversary, they decided to gather at the Mall in Castlebar, maintaining social distancing, to gather for a photo of some of its present members.
Sheila Baynes is the longest serving member of the branch, and Mary Corcoran is the PRO. They spoke to Midwest Radio in the rain today about the Castlebar branch and what it means to them.
