There’s good news for north Mayo- Belmullet Golf Club will stage a major PGA tournament next August.
The Carne Golf Link in Erris will play host to the Irish PGA Championship between the 4-7th of August 2021.
Over 200 golfers and their families will descend on the area for a three-day golf extravaganza, which will be welcomed news for the hospitality sector in the region.
The facility is currently estimated to be worth around E7.2million to the Mayo economy.
Chairman of the Belmullet Golf Club Gerry Maguire told Midwest News that this event may even be a precursor to holding a full Irish Open in the years to come.
