The Irish economy needs people back flying more than any other country in Europe-- but air traffic here has been slowest to recover.

 

That's what the Irish Aviation Authority will tell TDs and senators later when it briefs them on the impact of the pandemic later today.

 

It's warning that without an "urgent" intervention to reduce quarantine periods, the sector here faces terminal decline.

 

Duncan Smith, Labour's transport spokesperson, says there's been no progress on testing at airports for months.
