The impact of Level 5 restrictions on families grieving the loss of a loved one are not being taken into consideration by the Government.
That’s the view of Mayo funeral director David McGowan, who says restricting attendances further will cause divides in families.
Under Level 5 of the Government’s plan for living with the virus attendances at funeral’s will be capped at 10 people from Thursday.
The Ballina-based funeral director argues that funerals are just as important as weddings and is questioning the exception of allowing 25 people to celebrate weddings under Level 5.
David McGowan of McGowan’s Funeral Directors told Midwest News that reducing attendance numbers at Funerals is not helping bereaved families.
