A South Mayo councillor is calling on the Department to provide money for the redevelopment of a dangerous junction near Cong.
Robeen-based Councillor Pasty O'Brien has called on the Department of Transport to make funding available to the project under the Low-Cost Safety scheme.
The junction is located at the R345 on the Cross side of the village near Lisloughery Lodge.
The design process is complete and the work will involve setting back the walls, realigning the road and creating a footpath at the location.
Cllr O'Brien says that the junction has been of serious concern to families in the locality.
