A Mayo publican is calling for a definitive date for the reopening of pubs.
Neil Cruise of Cruisers Bar in Foxford has warned publicans that a reopening of 'wet pubs' in the near future is not guaranteed.
The Fine Gael Councillor says the decision to reopen them will ultimately rest on public health advice, but he believes now is the right time to look at letting the sector return to business.
The North Mayo publican raised concerns that the retention of time limits for premises who can't achieve a two metre social distance could lead to irresponsible behaviour like pub crawling.
However, the Owner of Cruisers Bar told Midwest News that it’s very definitely time to let the sector reopen after a six-month closure.
