Belmullet has the highest number of confirmed Covid-19 cases across Connaught.
That’s according to newly released figures from the Central Statistics Office measured as of the 12th of June, which also shows that Mayo has the seventh highest death toll nationally.
As of that date, 41 people in the county had lost their lives from coronavirus and the median age of the deaths was 82.
Across the rest of Connaught there were 10 deaths in Roscommon with a median age of 87, 9 in Galway with a median age of 84, 7 in Sligo with a median age of 88 and none in Leitrim.
The areas worst affected by the virus across the region are broken down by Electoral Divisions on the CSO website.
They show that in Mayo the electoral division which had the highest number of confirmed cases was Belmullet with 59, Ballyhaunis has 43 cases, the Kilmeena area has 48, Castlebar Urban has 53 and Ballina Urban has 26.
In Roscommon the worst affected electoral division is Roscommon Rural with 55 confirmed cases, followed by Roscommon Urban and Athleague West with 47 each.

Meanwhile, there were no new deaths from Covid-19 in the country yesterday, meaning the death toll remains at 1,715.
There were 6 new confirmed cases of the virus bringing the total to 25,379.
Out of the six new cases one occurred in Mayo, with the rest of the province’s counties remaining unchanged.
The figures now see 572 in Mayo, 485 in Galway, 344 in Roscommon, 125 in Sligo and 78 in Leitrim.
