Drugs worth in the region of €1.2 million euro have been seized in the Mayo Garda Division, since the Divisional Drugs Taskforce was expanded six months ago.
In addition to the drugs, over €12,500 in cash was seized and about €30,000 in counterfeit currency has been removed from circulation.
The Divisional Drugs Taskforce was expanded last December, providing more resources to tackle the sale and supply of drugs.
Included in the seizures since then is the detection of five grow houses, ranging in value from €64,000 to €432,000 - which Gardai say have significantly disrupted the sale and supply of drugs across the Mayo Division.
In all the recent cases where grow houses were detected, they occurred in rental properties.
Landlords are advised to remain vigilant to the possibility that their properties may be used by criminals as grow houses.
